Laszlo Szakal

My background

My goal is to help businesses to find their way how to survive within the rapidly changing – often disruptive –business environment by identifying new products and services or even establish turbulent business models.

I started my career as a software engineer in an academic environment and spent 5 years developing custom designed applications (computer aided design, business applications).

I moved on into the education area and obtained an assistant lecturer position and finished my postgraduate degree in Artificial Intelligence in engineering area – shop floor scheduling systems – and finally gained my Ph. D. degree. Therefore I am very close to engineering thinking.

In the next decade I joined a multinational professional organisation (Electronic Data Systems) and was involved in M&A type transactions as the company was the founder of outsourcing business – IT outsourcing as well as Business Process Outsourcing. During my time with EDS I had the opportunity to understand many areas: banking, insurance, manufacturing, transportation, airline as well as public sector.

In the next period I gained experience in state owned, privately owned public sector oriented businesses and successfully implemented complex projects.

Recently I returned to the private sector focus and helped a local IT services  company to double its  revenue.

Changes are inevitable part of the current economy, therefore I started looking for a non-classical way to help my clients to be prepared for the unexpected. Today disruption comes from new technology based business models as well as events which force to do thing differently – sometimes it is in extreme conditions (e.g. Covid-19).

I decided to gain systematically the skills about the transformation process which helps organisations to change their internal culture to embed innovative thinking and Lean-Startup mentality.

Flagship projects

Some of the successful service implementations where I played a key role

As a member of a contract negotiation team we established a billing system development outsourcing contract with multimillion Euro annual budget. I managed the services for the next year.

Core banking system implementation and consolidation project in a leading universal bank.

Successful realisation of the national emergency call services. This is classified as top-level critical operation which requires geo-redundant continuously working infrastructure and applications.

My certifications

With this qualification I can help my clients to score themselves and identify where the biggest opportunities for exponential growth lie

With my knowledge in the ExO Sprint transformation process I am able to run ExO Sprints for my clients with the help of online tools and content

I have an understanding of the Lean-Agile mindset and why it’s so effective in today’s adapt-or-die marketplace. You learnt practical advice on supporting Agile teams and programs, empowering a Lean Portfolio, building a continuous delivery pipeline and DevOps culture, and coordinating large solutions.
